Asking, Guessing and Saying No

A column from the Guardian, itself linking to a previous blog posting, positing a theory of how we are raised to make requests – by asking, or by guessing. The difficulties that are often experienced in saying no fits with this idea, and the cultural element (that Japan is a nation of Guessers, while Russians are Askers, for example) also seems to work.

I’m going to reflecto n this for a bit, as I like the basic premise, and am intrigued to see what it might offer in both a personal and professional context.
