I don’t intend for this blog to have an overtly political edge, but I have been moved to support a campaign which stands against the Marriage Tax Allowance that has been proposed by David Cameron’s Conservative party.
If, as is possible, the next UK government is of a Conservative persuasion, this policy is likely to be a hot political topic, and so a campaign has been launched to voice opposition to the Tories’ apparent desire to dictate to the country what constitutes a ‘healthy’ or ‘right’ family, and to financially reward those who fit within that definition.
My (non-political) preference would be to promote and encourage the healthy diversity of family styles that already exist in the UK, and find a means of supporting more fully those who need the financial benefit, regardless of whether they conform to a particular image or type.
Don’t Judge My Family! is compiling names of those who oppose the position that the Conservatives are taking, asserting a greater equality of recognition for different styles and models of family life.
If you would like to add your name in support of this opposition to the Marriage Tax Allowance, please follow the link and sign up at Don’t Judge My family!.
